The End of the Non-Dom Regime: What the FIG Rules Actually Changed

Saturday 15 August, 12:00 to 13:00 UK. Online and free. Domicile and the remittance basis are gone. On Saturday we ask what the world outside the UK makes of what replaced them.

Your guest on the panel. Venkat Rajagopalan: Chartered Accountant, Group Head of Tax at Saudi German Health in the UAE, and an ADIT tutor in UK Tax and Transfer Pricing. Close to 15 years across practice and industry, with practical experience of UK Controlled Foreign Company rules, permanent establishment structures and wider cross-border tax work. He joins from the UAE, a base for internationally mobile professionals and a classic destination for those leaving the UK regime, and he reads the FIG changes from that seat.

The angle. The panel takes the international seat: how the change is being read outside the UK, where treaties and foreign tax already paid come into it, what it means for internationally mobile families, and what it all adds up to for candidates preparing the ADIT United Kingdom option (Paper 2.09) and the CTA papers Taxation of Individuals and Inheritance Tax, Trusts and Estates.

Who should be there. Candidates preparing the ADIT United Kingdom option (Paper 2.09) or the CTA papers Taxation of Individuals and Inheritance Tax, Trusts and Estates; practitioners advising internationally mobile clients; and anyone weighing a move into or out of the UK.

Venkat joins the MojiTax team in discussion; live Q&A closes the hour, so come with a question.

Article of the week

Designation, Not Remittance: How the Temporary Repatriation Facility Actually Works

By Munachiso Ogu-Jude. Designating under the Temporary Repatriation Facility is not the same as remitting: you fix a 12% rate now and the money can follow years later, or never. This briefing works through the machinery behind that choice, from qualifying overseas capital and the same-year rule to the new TRF capital account and the reach into trusts; with 2026-27 the last tax year at 12%, the arithmetic deserves an hour before 5 April 2027. The TRF is also on Saturday's agenda: read this first and arrive ahead.
